To me, beauty is experienced through the different senses; sight, hearing, taste, and smell. Beauty is subjective. What one person might find no value in, another one will. Take Picasso, for instance; his work influenced the way that we view and value art today. But sometimes, I would take a look at my younger cousin’s drawings and admire them more than Picasso’s finest paintings. I admire the way that my cousin interprets the world around her, the way that her hand moves the pencil along the canvas, the way she projects her creativity through passion – it all inspires me. In this way, beauty is subjective. How we view beauty and find value in a vast range of ways is what makes us all different. It makes beauty unique.

This is what drew me towards modeling; finding a way to express my inner love of art through a more physical medium. The fashion also attracts me. I get to wear the art of designers on a stage where others have the opportunity to view their work. Modeling is all about expressing different types of beauty, different types of artworks. We don’t just represent the great Picasso’s of the fashion world, but we also give a voice to those who often go unheard. This is why I love what I do.

However, Modeling can be challenging. We live in a world where people are measured by universal beauty standards. I believe that beauty standards should not be determined by your outward appearance, nor should people have the power to determine another person’s ‘beauty.’ Instead, beauty should be defined yourself.

I find myself the most attractive when I pursue and achieve personal goals; when I exercise ambition, determination, and perseverance. This is what makes me beautiful; not my outward appearance, but my inner growth.

My greatest advice would be to love and accept yourself. Sometimes we are all alone, or we may feel all alone. And all we have then, in that moment, is ourselves. It’s important for you to feel confident in yourself and strive to live life to its fullest. Strive for beauty, and don’t let anyone else determine what beautiful looks like to you. Because beauty is subjective, and that’s what makes it all the more valuable.
